Adesuwa Academy

African Linguae

Very few higher institutions offer a couple of African languages in colleges. Children of
Africans in the diaspora seldom speak their heritage language. They do not have
access to learning to speak, read and write in their heritage language. Further, many
African Americans want to connect with their African roots, and language is one way to
do so. Offering students a selection of African languages and their ethics and culture
beginning in elementary school will support children’s bilingual skills. Additionally, it will
allow them to connect with other language speakers and promote and preserve African
languages. The language programs are aimed at children and adults of African and
African descendants and people of any race and ethnicity interested in learning one or
more of the African linguae.
