Approach to Teaching and Learning
Integrating Curricula
Adesuwa Academy integrates curricula to enhance learning, and deepen students’ skills in making connections across disciplines to enhance real-life applications of concepts and skills. Our programs promote learning to read and reading to learn at an early age through engaging activities to build students’ comprehension, critical thinking, and creative thinking skills. We integrate the elements of the art of listening and speaking and create opportunities for students to engage in diverse cultures. Students are given opportunities to develop concepts, discuss and analyze materials across disciplines, and engage in structured debates to support divergent thinking.
Students are offered rich content and multiple pathways to learning, through integrating visual arts, music, dance, role-playing, reader’s theater, social studies, and technology. They are immersed in literature and engage in stimulating discussions to foster ethical culture and values.
Learning Foundations
Adesuwa Academy’s early childhood preschool learning foci include play-centered activities and school readiness skills by developing students’ cognitive skills in literacy and numeracy, including promoting their socioemotional and physical development. Preschool age curriculum offers authentic learning environments and experiences that allow children to develop independently and in groups. It is a year to foster social skills and expand upon children’s innate enthusiasm for learning.
