Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing
Adesuwa Academy offers both in-person and online programs. Due to COVID-19, most of our services are online. Our instructional focus includes Language Arts integrated with the Arts (e.g., music, dance, and visual art) to enhance students’ Reading Fluency and Comprehension. We assess students’ reading skills to tailor instruction to their needs. We employ readers theatre to provide learners with opportunities to reread texts and practice fluency, as well as support cooperative interaction with their peers to make reading more engaging and fun.
Our literature-based reading programs are designed to engage students meaningfully. The programs include developmentally appropriate contents and activities aimed at fostering learners’ love for reading, listening, speaking and writing. While emphasis is placed on the whole language approach of teaching reading, we provide explicit instructions in letter-sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, decoding, word recognition, and vocabulary building. We use meaningful literature of various genres and disciplines to promote students’ interest in learning to read and gaining knowledge across disciplines.
Math and Science
Adesuwa’s math and science teaching and learning employ an interdisciplinary
approach. Instructions inspiring, inquiring, and innovating challenge young minds and
develops confidence through problem-solving experiences. Students engage actively in an inquiry approach to investigating problems, asking questions, and employing critical thinking skills to explore multiple ways to solve problems.
They are encouraged to communicate the strategies they employed in solving problems, analyzing findings, and connecting the knowledge gained to real life
situations.

grade level. The arts encompassing dance, music, and theater are relevant features of
Adesuwa Academy’s academic curricula and extra-curricula services. We focus on each

multiple skills and talents creatively to produce products of relevance and value.

promote their curiosity, imagination, critical thinking, and creative thinking skills to
promote their creative potential.
Visual Arts
Students will develop art skills through repetition and practice. They will share and discuss their artwork and see the connection of art to our daily lives at home, school, community, and beyond. As they progress through grade levels, they will demonstrate competencies including understanding various tools and functions. Students will learn the safe and competent use of materials and equipment for a variety of artistic processes. Visual arts will be integrated across curricula.
Technology
Our technology programs focus on promoting students’ understanding of how
computers work, as well as using the technology of various functions to support learning
in the classroom. The technology programs help children gain technology awareness by
teaching children how computers work, starting from teaching the basics such as
keyboarding and word processing. They also learn how the internet and multimedia
work, how information is represented in a computer, and learn coding to enhance
students’ creativity and innovation to contribute to valuable technological contributions.
Adesuwa academy integrates the arts with technology and gives students instructions
and opportunities to explore drawing, painting, and graphic designs to promote their
skills in creating valuable products.

emotional development. Children’s characteristics shaped from early childhood
experiences influence positive or adverse reactions from their environments and reify
their genetic potential. Therefore, it is crucial to serving children with a disability
